Hi there! We're Luke and Cat, and we're so happy you're here. We hope you'll stay a while! We’re a husband and wife wedding photographer team based in Houston, Texas. Ranchers-turned-photographers, our world looks like this: a Craftsman-style farmhouse; our newborn, Knox, in our arms; coffee in the kitchen; Edison lights on the back porch; and a pair of English bulldogs at the foot of our bed. Wedding Day Surprise

Jul 27, 2012 / Weddings

This is one of those moments that Cat and I will never forget. We feel so blessed and honored that couples ask us to be a part of such a special time in their lives.

We get to spend almost the entire day with our couples and get to see all of the special little in-between moments that happen through out the day. We watch as glances are exchanged between the bride and her dad, who is undoubtedly trying to hold back emotion that his little girl is finally grown up, as the groomsmen celebrate with their friend and tell stories that maybe shouldn't be told (like that one time in New Orleans!) and experience the excitement in the air as two families join together. We also get to see all the thoughtful gifts that brides give to bridesmaids, or children give to parents, etc., but Brittany and Blair take the cake for BIG TIME presents!

It all started when we met up with Brittany and Blair on the morning on their wedding day. The girls were getting ready, the guys were counting down the minutes until they could loosen their ties, pretty normal wedding day festivities. Then Blair pulled me aside and what he told me made me excited, nervous, and even jealous all at the same time!

Blair said: "Hey Luke, I got Brittany a very special gift that she will see right after the ceremony and if you could please try to get a picture of her when she sees it, I would appreciate it."

I said, "No problemo, what did you get her?" I know that Blair is absolutely crazy over his now wife, so I was thinking it would be a very special piece of jewelry or a set of pictures from their dating days. What he said next, made my jaw drop all the way to the ground.

Blair said: "I got her a new truck!"

In that moment, I wanted to marry Blair myself, I was jealous that I didn't get Cat a new truck for her wedding day gift, and I wasn't sure that I would be able to keep a secret when I saw Brittany. I think that I may have high-fived Blair and quickly got back to work.

Right before the ceremony, the bridesmaids gave Brittany a box that she was told to open.

It was one box inside of another, similar to a set of Russian dolls, but when she got to the last layer, she saw the keys! As you can see, she was excited!
I asked Brittany if she wanted me to hold the keys until after the ceremony since no one else had pockets or a purse, but she didn't want to let go of them! She put them right on top of her brooch bouquet so she could show Blair as soon as she walked down the aisle.

As soon as they kissed, I ran from the back of the church to the parking lot to wait on Brittany's exit. At this point all she knew was she had a new set of keys, but had no clue as to what!

This is what she saw!

Everyone was so excited, especially Brittany, and this is definitely going on the top 10 list for us! I think that I may go buy a new truck for Cat now! I think that Walmart has some pretty sweet deals on HotWheels :)

Brittany and Blair :: Houston Wedding Photographer

Jul 25, 2012 / Weddings

We love this couple!

A few weeks ago, we got to spend a perfect day with Brittany and Blair to celebrate their wedding day! All morning, it was pouring down rain. As we carried our camera bags into the church, we each had a huge umbrella protecting our gear (and my hair!)

One of the wedding guests that was there early commented, "I just checked the weather and it's not going to clear up at all today."

Well wouldn't you know, things *did* clear up, and this lovely couple got some rays of sun on their wedding day. Yippee!

We're mixing things up a bit for this couple and showcasing all of their beautiful portraits from the day. Enjoy!

These girls are full of smiles!

The new Mr. & Mrs. - soaking in the moment!

I've got a little story for you. As we were driving to the wedding earlier in the day, I was talking to Luke about the portrait time that I wanted to have with Brittany and Blair. We had just driven by an adorable little town that's just a few minutes from their reception site. I told Luke, "Wouldn't it be cool if we could do portraits with them here!"

But we both agreed, they probably wouldn't want to have to get in the car and drive those couple of minutes off the site of the reception.

Fast forward to a few hours later, right around sunset. The bride and groom piped up and said, "Hey, is there any way we could go down the road just a little bit to that town? There's some cool places there."

My jaw dropped. Could it be? Then Blair said, "After all, these are the pictures that we're going to frame."

SAY WHAT?! Can you say, Photographer's Dream Couple!? These guys get it.

So Brittany and Blair loaded into our vehicle, and drove a few miles down the road for a full blown portrait session, right in the middle of their reception. We LOVE them.

Brittany and Blair, we had an amazing time with you guys, and got some of our favorite portraits yet! We hope you're enjoying married life!

Be sure to keep an eye out, because there's another blog post coming about something really exciting and fun that happened at this wedding!
