Hi there! We're Luke and Cat, and we're so happy you're here. We hope you'll stay a while! We’re a husband and wife wedding photographer team based in Houston, Texas. Ranchers-turned-photographers, our world looks like this: a Craftsman-style farmhouse; our newborn, Knox, in our arms; coffee in the kitchen; Edison lights on the back porch; and a pair of English bulldogs at the foot of our bed. Meg and Kevin :: Olde Dobbin Station

Dec 19, 2012 / Weddings
We love getting to shoot at a new venue. Especially when it is somewhere as spectacular as the new Houston venue, Olde Dobbin Station.

Earier this year when Meg and Kevin told us about the place where they were going to say "I Do," I promptly googled this place and fell in love. Not to mention that as we were driving to the venue we realized it was right around the exact area where we picked up the cutest little bulldog ever, Wilma Neumayr, a few years ago. But that's another story. But a good story :)

Eventually the rings were tied to this old family bible that belonged to Meg's great grandfather. Love this.

Meg is just a classic beauty, all around. She carries herself with such poise and grace. To tell you the truth, anytime I'm around her I feel.... well... like a short, dumpy, less graceful.... hobbit. But, Meg is nice too. She is down to earth, and laid back, and the complete opposite of a diva. Soooo that makes her the type of person who I want to be around. :)

Can I just say, I just love a pregnant bridesmaid who is super excited! Meg and her sister are ready for the new baby!

Meg and Kevin chose to be married in one of the buildings at the venue that hadn't been repurposed yet. They saw the raw potential and hung the strands of lights and draped the ceiling. Since they were married after dark, this was a magnificent effect! They were married by candlelight and it was nothing less than magical.

It was reeeeeeally cold that night. We love this one of Kevin snuggling her up! :)

One of my favorite parts of the night was when Meg's father toasted the couple. He talked about how they had prayed for a young man like this for their daughter and how thankful they were that God had placed them in each others lives. He had a few funny stories to tell too, of course!

Meg and Kevin - your day was spectacular! We had a great time with you and your families and I feel so blessed that we have met you both.

Laura and John :: Agave Real Wedding Photographer

Dec 17, 2012 / Weddings

Agave Real... we love it!

We've photographed lots of weddings over at Agave Road, but this was our first wedding to shoot at Agave Real, their sister property. What a treat this day was! This venue is a stunning treasure with southwestern and hacienda decor, and Laura and John's fall wedding day couldn't have been any more perfect!

Laura's parents were so proud of their daughter on her wedding day!

A call to grandpa right after they said "I do!"

Since John and Laura were married right at sunset, all of their portraits were taken at a time when all of the Agave properties really shine.... after dark!

Laura is an interior designer, so she had a careful hand in making sure the reception decor reflected their personal style. I love the end result!

John and Laura - your day was perfect, and we are so excited to see where your married journey takes you!

3 Years Down!

Dec 12, 2012 / Our Life
Today Luke and I get to celebrate our THIRD wedding anniversary! We've had a fabulous day so far... treating ourselves to lunch in the big city at our favorite noodle joint, Pei Wei. We've both been really under the weather now for almost a week. This morning when I woke up I was able to take a deep breath through my once-stopped-up nose and I was so excited that we could spend our anniversary less sick! :) It's the little things, people. :) :)

So I was just thinking that about 3 years ago at this time I was just getting into my wedding dress and getting ready to do our first sight. We had an amazing wedding photographer, Lauren Clark Photography, and she told us that since we were getting married in December at 7:00 PM we needed to do a first sight so that we could have daylight portraits of us. As a photographer now, I understand exactly what she's talking about. But at that point, I just knew, "Well if Lauren says that's what we need to do, we're going to do it." So Luke and I did a first sight and it worked best for us. And check out Luke's face! Priceless!

That day seems like forever ago, in some ways. I look at these pictures and think about the people we were back then - I thought that we knew exactly where we were headed. Luke thought that he was marrying a graphic designer, and I thought I was marrying a cattleman. I figured by now we'd probably have a kid or two. Here we are, 3 years later, living out a dream we didn't even know we had at the time - owning our own business together and getting to do one of the best jobs in the world - photograph people on THEIR days like ours above. Goes to show you that God has even better things in store for you than you might imagine!

The other day one of Luke and I's best couple-friends (is that a phrase? I just made it one) was telling us how sad they were that they missed our wedding. For one reason or another, they were out of town that day or something. Without even thinking, I said, "Hey, it's no big deal. You might have missed the wedding, but you've been here for the marriage." And that's the honest truth. It's easy to get caught up in weddings - things like the flowers, the dress, the fact that (in the picture above) I keep thinking I might should have had my roots touched up one more time before the wedding.... whatever... BUT three years in I can tell you if you do things like you're supposed to, a wedding is just a tiny, gone-in-a-blink-of-the-eye opening act to a marriage. Marriage is a whole different deal than a wedding... that's for sure. And I'm thankful for that.

I'm thankful for all the moments that make up the past 3 years of our life. Highs and lows, laughter and tears, laundry pile-ups and dirty-house meltdowns, saying hello to new friends and goodbye to old ones, adding 2 bulldogs, 1 stray dog, and 2 porch cats, surviving 1 round of home renovations, sharing countless summer-cold's, Luke letting me buy new Nike Free's all the time, me letting Luke buy new Yankee Candle's all the time, door slams, front porch sitting, McDonald's ice cream trips, late night oreos and milk... It's all ours.

Happy anniversary to my best friend! Life is perfect with you!
