On a gorgeous March day at a very special venue, Christina and Travis were married! Briscoe Manor is a lovely private estate located just outside the Houston hustle-and-bustle, in Katy.
It's a very special place to us because that's where WE got married! When we first met Christina and Travis and heard about their wedding day plans, we were so so excited to get back to Briscoe and photograph there!
A fun fact: The Briscoe Manor crew owns their own herd of Texas Longhorns. As you drive down the driveway to Briscoe, these majestic symbols of our proud state roam on both sides of the road.
One of our favorite things that we liked about Briscoe Manor when we chose to get married there was the fun grooms room. So often people focus on the bridal suite (which is important, too) but the grooms room should be fun too! The guys were having a blast hanging out before they had to walk down the aisle.
Travis was all smiles for this big day!
Christina and Travis chose to do a 'first sight' for their wedding day, meaning they saw one another before the wedding. We love this because it allows us to get sooo many great photos of them before the ceremony, and not be rushed for time to get to the reception! The first sight was their idea and we are so thankful they valued photography so much to plan their timeline around when they could get the most pictures! How excited does Travis look to see his bride?!
What a gorgeous and fun bridal party they had! Everyone had such a great sense of humor! They all spent all their time before the wedding cutting up and laughing.
As the sun started to descend, the guests gathered outside at Balke's Lakeside, Briscoe's outdoor ceremony location. It was decorated beautifully for the event!
While the guests gathered, there were some last minute preparations going on with the bridesmaids....
....and some sentimental moments with the bride and her mother. Ah..... tear.
The sunset was perfectly timed for the ceremony!
They had a great service, filled with laughs! Love their preacher's face!
After the ceremony, the guests spent some time in the courtyard for cocktail hour and hand-passed appetizers.
During that time, it gave us even MORE opportunities for bride-and-groom photos as the sun went down!
This is the mother and father of the bride, giving a beautiful toast with pointers for a long and happy life together. It was such a touching moment!
The father daughter dance was awesome! It started out just like any other father daughter dance... but then...
These guys started to bust a move! :)
And then the rest of the guests followed their lead and danced the night away, too!
Christina and Travis, you had such an awesome wedding! We're so glad that you invited us to be there for your big day! You were a joy to work with throughout this process and we know you'll have a long and happy life together!

Traci and Michael are two cool cats who were married just a few weeks ago here in our town of Wharton.
We have had such a blast spending time with Traci and Michael throughout their wedding planning. Of course we knew every detail would be perfect! Traci has impeccable personal style!
There she is... Traci, you looked stunningly beautiful on your wedding day!
And you were surrounded by people who made you laugh. What more could you want?
The bridesmaids dresses were so cool! I loved their pockets! The girls also all got to wear their choice of coral shoes. Beautiful!
Traci's mom was a fabulous mother of the bride AND she was the coordinator/planner of the wedding. Amazing!
Michael was a happy groom, as well!
And then the ceremony was upon us! And Michael was so proud of his beautiful bride! (Love Michael's best man's (and brother's) proud face too!)
Traci's brother was at the end of the groomsman line, and he peeked his head out to see their father give her away. Love it!
Then the same superstar brother performed a song, "Dancing Shoes" at the wedding. It was such a touching moment!
Traci's mom was loving the music too! How proud this family must be!
We got to catch a little sunset action before we took off to the reception!
Traci and Michael (and us too, by the way) are both Aggies! That grooms cake was all Aggie, and delicious!
In Traci language, I must say, "Can we talk about how obsessed I am with this photo?" Cutie patooties!
Not a dry eye in the house during the toasts.
During the father-daughter dance, they had a 'party crasher'! Traci's mom joined in on the fun, too! It was so cute!
And then the party got started! They had the amazing Horizon band come and provide live entertainment, and this group knew how to party. Good live music + a naturally fun group of people = a good time had by all!
No Aggie wedding would be complete without a little sawing Varsity's horns off. (Hey, we did it too at our wedding!)
I love how as they were leaving Traci was waving to the crowd! Looking through the photos I felt like I was seeing the Queen of England!
Traci and Michael - you guys rock! We loved your wedding! We can't thank you enough for allowing us into your group for this amazing time in your lives. You have a super-fun group of friends, an amazingly supportive and close knit family, and clearly enough love to last you a lifetime. Best wishes, friends!

Fun
Fact
Luke always wanted to be a cowboy and secretly wishes he had a duster to wear.
Taryn and John had such a fun wedding day! When we first met with them at the fabulous Richmond wedding venue, Great Oaks Manor, we just clicked.
We stayed and visited long after our 'meeting/consultation' late, even though we all had early mornings the next day. Their engagement session sealed the deal - we knew we were meant to be friends with these two.
We arrived at the venue and were greeted with a picturesque day - perfect for an occasion as important as a marriage! Great Oaks Manor is a huge, grand ol' Plantation house that seems to be right out of Gone With The Wind. Or something like that... Fiddle Dee Dee... Back to business.
These stained glass windows made my heart skip a beat! As soon as I saw them the first time, I had this shot in my head and I was so excited that Taryn had one of these super-cool name hangers to hang her dress right there on the big day!
Cufflinks with a story! Two towns that mean a great deal to the groom!
This is Taryn. She's the bride. She had a cool hairdo, a laid-back attitude, and a mom who adores her helping her tie her bow on her gorgeous dress. What more could a bride want on her big day?
Favorite groom/groomsmen shot ever!
Here's John. He's the groom. He looks quite dapper, doesn't he?
These shoes were show stoppers. And these flowers... the flowers... Christina Garza of Fresh Blooms of Houston outdid herself, once again.
Taryn.... you are stunning. Gorgeous. Adorable. All those things and more. John must have knew this when he picked you.
An outdoor ceremony at sunset... Swoon!
Taryn's mother Robin walked her down the aisle. After the wedding Robin told us of this poignant moment where Taryn looked over and noticed her mom tearing up. Robin said she'll never forget the moment that followed after... Taryn squeezed her hand, turned and looked at her, and said,... "Mom, you better lock that sh*t up." I think when Robin told me this, I might have spewed my drink. I love these people.
I love love love (worthy of 3 'loves') the way John is looking at his bride here, the first moments as he sees her on their wedding day.
Nice face, John! Wish I knew what you were thinking!
What a fun wedding party! Seriously... every person is funny in this photo.
Beautiful details at the reception. My favorite were the tall arrangements - with babys breath! Big statement pieces, unique, and unexpected.
Another cool detail! This framed 'art' was made for the guests. An inkpad was provided where people could leave their mark on the tree for Taryn and John. The purple thumbprints are Taryn and John's.
Had to show this grooms cake. I know the Cougar fans loved it. Which by the way, 90% of the guests were... Houston Cougar fans.
A serenade for the bride from the fraternity brothers.
Speaking of brothers... John and his brother were the life of the party!
And these people knew how to party!
Towards the end of the night, those big arrangements I spoke of earlier doubled as a headdress for the bride. LOVE IT!
A hug goodbye from Taryn's mom...
My favorite moment of the night, by far. All the guests were lined up, with their sparklers lit, waiting on the bride and groom to come running and make their grand exit. I was wondering where they were, so I went to find them. When I got to the big tent where the reception was, I found an empty tent, no guests, a slow song playing, and these two, dancing. I stayed as far back as I could and photographed this moment, that even as I'm writing about it, makes me tear up. This is the stuff romance is made of. This is why we are wedding photographers.
John and Taryn, we loved your fabulous wedding day, all of your fun friends, your families, and most of all, getting to be with you guys on this, the first day of your marriage. THANK YOU for inviting us in to your life and your love story!
