Hi there! We're Luke and Cat, and we're so happy you're here. We hope you'll stay a while! We’re a husband and wife wedding photographer team based in Houston, Texas. Ranchers-turned-photographers, our world looks like this: a Craftsman-style farmhouse; our newborn, Knox, in our arms; coffee in the kitchen; Edison lights on the back porch; and a pair of English bulldogs at the foot of our bed. Dusty and Jake

Jun 28, 2013 / Engagements, Film
We had a real treat when Dusty and Jake came and spent the evening with us to get their engagement photos taken. Dusty is one of my oldest friends, but as is the case with old friends, we don't see each other nearly as often as we should. Luckily, we have one of those friendships where we can always pick up right where we left off. I am so happy that these two have found each other... you can tell how much joy they have when they are together.

You'll see a few Polaroid's in this post. We brought along our Polaroid camera to take a few pictures. Love these, too!

Pure happiness!

This is my favorite picture we've taken in a looooooooong time. I'm sure it has something to do with the fact that I am so over-the-moon happy to see one of my best friends with the kind of love that she deserves.

A little later in the evening, we got to bring in the coolest kid ever, Truitt, to take some pictures with his parents!

What a little toot.

At the end of the shoot, Truitt wanted to take a picture of Dusty and Jake. He's a pretty good photographer, don't you think? That's his picture on the right.

Dusty and Jake (and Truitt too) - we are so excited to continue on this journey with you! We can't wait for your wedding later this year!

Kelly and Derek

Jun 21, 2013 / Engagements, Film
Last month we got to hang out with Kelly and Derek and shoot their engagement photos. These two are very much in love and so much fun to be around. On top of that, they really went the extra mile to put lots of thought into bringing unique and meaningful things along to include in their photos. I love that!

This is one good looking couple! :)

Kelly and Derek brought along some things to make this really personal to them. They are big fans of Nicolas Sparks books, they like to relax and just spend time together, and Derek brings out his guitar and serenades his lovely wife to be. I felt like we were out on a little date!

Kelly and Derek, you are so much fun! We can't wait for your wedding this summer!

For this shoot we shot both digital and film.

Sarah and Andrew's Lakeside Engagements

Jun 18, 2013 / Engagements
We are so excited to get to share Sarah and Andrew's engagement session with you! This particular engagement shoot is very special to us, as it is our first styled engagement shoot. Earlier this year, we sat and talked about how we wanted to be able to offer something really unique and personal to our couples who were wanting something a little different than just a normal engagement shoot. With that in mind, we started offering the option of a 'styled engagement shoot' where we hire an event stylist and work with the couple to create a one-of-a-kind, unique, and highly styled engagement session that truly reflects their style.

We were tickled pink when Sarah and Andrew took us up on our offer and added on a styled engagement session when they chose us as their wedding photographers. Months of preparation, wardrobe consultations, moodboards, meetings with the stylist, trips to the location... all culminated with 2 loaded Suburbans driving down 30 minutes worth of dirt roads to this serene and shady lake on their family ranch.

Sarah and Andrew love spending time together in the outdoors on their ranch. One of their first dates was at this very lake, and many of their favorite memories are spent hunting and fishing right in the same spot they chose for their engagements.

Without further adieu, here are some of our favorite photos from the evening we spent with Sarah and Andrew for their styled engagement shoot!

Our 'lead off picture' is one of our all time favorites we've taken of the beautiful Sarah, looking flawless in her floppy sunhat with a fishing lure pin.

Sometimes a canoe by the lake is the perfect place to share a few laughs with the one you love.

The plan was for Sarah and Andrew to catch their fish and cook them... lucky for us the fish were biting!

Chef Andrew prepared the fish in a way that looks ready for the cover of Williams-Sonoma!

After the food was cooked, Sarah and Andrew headed over to the shady area underneath one of the big trees by the lake for a picnic table dinner date.

The official 'title' of our shoot when we were planning the entire process was "great catch."

After threatening rain all day, we had about 5 minutes of glorious sunset over the lake.

After dinner, it was back to the campfire for S'mores.

At dusk, Sarah and Andrew sat by the lake and read love letters that they had written earlier in the day to each other. All of us nosy folks standing nearby were trying not to cry. It was so sweet!

Sarah and Andrew, thank you for taking this leap of faith with us and letting our creativity shine based off of your love story! We had an amazing time planning the whole thing with you and are so excited for you to have these photos that are so unique to you!
