Hi there! We're Luke and Cat, and we're so happy you're here. We hope you'll stay a while! We’re a husband and wife wedding photographer team based in Houston, Texas. Ranchers-turned-photographers, our world looks like this: a Craftsman-style farmhouse; our newborn, Knox, in our arms; coffee in the kitchen; Edison lights on the back porch; and a pair of English bulldogs at the foot of our bed. Valerie and Jeff

Apr 11, 2013 / Engagements
Valerie and Jeff came all the way from Virginia to meet up with us and shoot their engagement photos. I'm sure when they left Virginia, they were expecting to come south and have sunny and warm Texas weather to greet them. Little did we know, it was freezing here when their engagement shoot rolled around. It was windy and very cold, but these two braved the elements with us and we had a great time.

Luckily, Valerie had this adorable purple trench coat that looked perfect in the photos! Cold weather was nothing for these two!

How lucky is Valerie to be marrying a guy that makes her laugh like THIS!

As you can see, Valerie knows how to make Jeff crack up too. :)

I'm so sad these two live in Virginia and that we won't be able to see and hang out with them all the time. We had a great time with you both and can't wait for your wedding!

Chicken Coop Envy

Apr 10, 2013 / Our Life
For quite a while now, we have been wanting to have chickens in our little pasture right by our house. We love the idea of farm fresh eggs. And I love the idea of chickens cluck clucking around our place.

But we hate the idea of the inevitable 'sidekick' that comes around wherever chickens are at... chicken snakes! We're terrified of snakes. I mean, who isn't? But I think our fear is at a whole different level than most people. Both of us turn into shrieking, hysterical, garden tool slinging, machete swinging, shotgun firing idiots anytime we see a snake.

Another idea that has kept me from getting chickens is the difficultly that I thought we would have getting a nice chicken coop built. I wouldn't even know where to start. I wanted something cute... something that would match our house and add to our little place, not detract. All I could picture was a chicken coop that looked trashy and temporary.

Well... that all changed the other day when I was aimlessly scrolling on Facebook (faux-working, of course) and saw a sponsored post for something called Agrarian. Upon a little further investigating, I learned that Agrarian is a new line from Williams-Sonoma with all kinda of great stuff for outdoorsy people - from chicken coops, to composting, growing your own foods, and raising your own honey.

The Alexandria chicken coop was the initial post I saw on Facebook. Is this not *the* cutest chicken coop you've ever seen?

There's lots of other great stuff on the website too. I was a big fan of this vintage bathtub plant stand.

Even though I don't have chickens yet, I really want this basket, and yes I do want to put all of my eggs in one basket. THIS one.

While you're looking around the site, be sure to notice the beekeeper suit that goes with the honey stuff. I may or may not have actually asked Luke if we could get it and make our own honey. But neither of us wanted to be the beekeeper. :)

Megan and James :: Briscoe Manor Wedding Photographer

Apr 9, 2013 / Weddings
Megan and James were married at the beautiful Houston wedding venue, Briscoe Manor. As you may know, this is where Luke and I were married ourselves. It has been so much fun to watch Briscoe Manor continually evolve and up the ante of their venue. They are constantly making small improvements, changes, and pushing the envelope and I truly believe this is one of the best wedding venues in Houston.

Briscoe was *the* perfect backdrop for Megan and James' wedding day. This couple had so many incredible ideas and they really made this wedding their own. I mean, how creative is this hay bale with their initial on it in roses?

Megan and her mother are two beautiful ladies!

Reading a sweet note from her husband-to-be.

Since Megan and James chose to do a first look, that meant we were able to get plenty of portraits of them, even though they were married right at dark. These photos are ones that will grace the walls of their home and fill their album.

A few last minute iPhone pictures before heading down the aisle. These ended up on Instagram, I'm sure, as Megan and James had their own Instagram hashtag for the big day.

Guests were invited to forgo a traditional guestbook and "Wrap Them Up In Love" and sign this guest quilt. What an adorable idea!

Megan and her father shared a special dance... not too many dry eyes in the house.

Since Megan and James are both Aggies (as are we), of course there was some sawing during the Aggie War Hymn. Gig 'em!

Always full of fresh ideas, Megan and James chose to have their guests toss little poms at them as they left. Such a fun, neat idea!

Megan and James, you guys have been so much fun to work with and get to know. Thank you for blessing us by allowing us to be there with you on the first day of your marriage!

Friends and family of the bride and groom, feel free to visit their gallery and sign their virtual guestbook to leave them some kind words!
