Hi there! We're Luke and Cat, and we're so happy you're here. We hope you'll stay a while! We’re a husband and wife wedding photographer team based in Houston, Texas. Ranchers-turned-photographers, our world looks like this: a Craftsman-style farmhouse; our newborn, Knox, in our arms; coffee in the kitchen; Edison lights on the back porch; and a pair of English bulldogs at the foot of our bed. A 10 year old superstar!

Feb 19, 2013 / Our Life

Please tell me that we aren't the only ones who haven't heard of this singer yet?!

We always have a combination of our iTunes playing and Pandora Radio. Usually we listen to a song we like on Pandora, then purchase it through iTunes. The other day I was listening to Pandora and heard a different version of the song "Angel" by Sarah McLachlan, so naturally I screenshotted the song and artist and checked it out on YouTube. I was expecting an older Katherine Jenkins type of singer, but what I found was a little girl the same age as my second youngest niece, Hunter.

Just take a listen here...

Since hearing Jackie on Pandora, I bought her albums, watched hours of her videos on YouTube, and of course, her very first audition on America's Got Talent!

Even if you don't like this genre of music, you can't say that this little girl isn't talented and going places! #inspiring

Our Favorite Venues: The Prairie!

Feb 15, 2013 / Weddings
This venue is one of our favorites! Besides the fact that it used to be our friend Ramona's family homestead, this venue is the perfect place for a bride who is looking for something special for her wedding.

The Prairie is located in Round Top, Texas which makes all antiquers' ears perk up. It's down a long dirt road, and it's really a treasure.

So here's 3 things to love about The Prairie!
1) Somebody famous designed it.
Rachel Ashwell is the shabby-chic queen, and she's the creative genius behind this venue. In every building on the property, you can see her touch. From the antique chairs, hardwood floors, and the floral print linens, you can see her vision come to life. Shabby chic themed weddings are very popular right now. If you're thinking about having one, why not start out at the venue that's owned by the queen herself?
2) It's in a small town.
If you come to Round Top, Texas during antique week, it might not seem like a small town. But any other time, Round Top is a lazy little town that is a perfect getaway from the city. Don't worry about your guests getting stuck in traffic or turning down the wrong one-way street. It's dirt roads and cattle-guards in Round Top.
3) You can go eat at Royer's Round Top Cafe while you're there.
Ok.. this is kinda off topic but I had to mention it. When we go to Round Top, we brave the crowd (and yes, there's always a crowd there) and the family style seating so that we can eat at Royer's Round Top Cafe. Sitting with strangers is worth it when you get to eat great food and enjoy the one-of-a-kind atmosphere. The pie's great too. If you haven't been there... go... now...
And be sure to schedule a visit to The Prairie as well!

It's been one of those weeks!

Feb 14, 2013 / Our Life
You know the kind! When you start out having a plan for how the week is going to unfold, and then you realize if you survive and make it until the end of the week, you are ready for anything, including the zombie apocalypse!

Our week has been one of showering at friend's homes due to a busted well water tank, late nights and early mornings, and a last minute rescue mission for a homeless English Bulldog we found on the side of the road.

But you know what? It's real life. Because I bet that we are not the only ones who have had a whirlwind week. We are behind on our laundry, our sink is full, and we have been raiding the pantry for any form of carb to sustain life.

Then I am reminded of Steven Covey's 90/10 principal. "10% of life is made up of what happens to you. 90% of life is decided by how you react."

We could get frazzled and frustrated, but we try, albeit hard, to enjoy these little adventures that make our life our own. We get to do what we love and continue to chase and tackle our dreams. These little bumps in the road are definitely worth it and just add another page to our story that we will look back on years from now and be so glad that we soared, stumbled, and fought like mad to get to.
