Hi there! We're Luke and Cat, and we're so happy you're here. We hope you'll stay a while! We’re a husband and wife wedding photographer team based in Houston, Texas. Ranchers-turned-photographers, our world looks like this: a Craftsman-style farmhouse; our newborn, Knox, in our arms; coffee in the kitchen; Edison lights on the back porch; and a pair of English bulldogs at the foot of our bed. Around the World in 24 hours!

Sep 24, 2012 / Our Life

Ok...so it wasn't around the whole world, and it took more like a week, but you get the picture!

Last week was beyond busy for us! We had so much to do and so many places to be that we couldn't really make sense of it all until it was over. We were on the road from Tuesday until we made a pit stop at home on Friday to do a little laundry, a quick bridal session, and hit the road again! I am writing this blog from our hotel room in Nashville as we make the trek north to visit my family in Indiana.

Here is a little glimpse into what some may call "last week" but we choose to call it the most fun we have had in four-day period :)

First thing we did when we got into town was stop in our old stomping grounds at Texas A&M to give a guest lecture to a class about how our degrees in Animal Science led us to owning our own business today as wedding photographers. We were expecting about 35 people (based off Cat's memory of the number of people in the class when she was a student) but things have changed a bit in the past 11 years since she took the class and now it was 230! After we got over the initial shock of the crowd, and after being nervous in the corner before giving our talk, we ended up having a great time and meeting so many friendly students.

Next up was the first evening away from home. We got to meet up with an awesome couple, Morgan and Kyle, and spend a little time together for a quick Save the Date shoot! We have their engagements scheduled in a couple of months, but they asked if we could meet for a quick couple of minutes on our road trip to get them a Save the Date shot! So glad we did, these two are awesome and we wanted to have a slumber party afterwards!

After our little mini-session, we met up at a local sushi place with some friends and talked until they closed the restaurant and kicked us out!

The next day, we were the ones in-front of the cameras! We were asked to be a part of the new Ring Wraps Commercial and little did we know how much fun it would be! We were a little nervous going in to it, because this will be our first official television appearance, and we wanted to make sure that we knocked it out of the park!

Look at us on the little monitor! #celebs! I think that we are going to start the Real Housewives of Boling series! We loved watching the whole filming process!

Here is the whole group from the first day of filming. Cat and I with Emily Huskinson from Ring Wraps and two of the most amazing go-getters around, Lina and Tina from Twinz Co..

That afternoon it was Abby's (our studio assistant) turn to work it! Randa at Southern Jewlz styled Abby from head-to-toe for her senior pictures! Just wait until you see the rest!

Our last day in College Station, we had the Southern Jewlz Fall Photo Shoot! Just wait until you see what the Southern Jewlz girls have put together for their fall collection! It will knock your socks off! I went to school with Randa, the Southern Jewlz owner, and Cat and I have known her for a long time! We have nightly chats about the most random things, but we have also been blessed to watch Randa grow her business into on of the fanciest boutiques around! Ladies beware - you will want to buy everything you see!

After a long days work, we took this by sitting the camera on the tailgate of a truck and using the timer! Luckily, we got it on our first attempt!

Today we are meeting with some photography friends of ours Zach & Jody Gray in Nashville to catch up and visit. Then we make the rest of the trip north to spend a little time with my family and try and convince Cat to go on a canoeing trip with us! #goodlucktome!

Meg & Kevin :: Houston Engagement Photographer

Sep 17, 2012 / Engagements

Yay! It's engagement shooting season again!

We always take a break from shooting any engagement or bridal sessions in the heat of the Texas summer. We learned a few years ago that it is just too hot in the months of June, July, and August to be shooting outdoors, so we worked with our couples this winter and spring to schedule their engagements and bridals for the cooler months of fall. They all were so pleased with the idea of not having to be red faced and sweaty!

The first cool front of fall came through just in time for Meg and Kevin's engagement session! It was pleasant, cool, and breezy - which is as close to fall weather that we're going to get here! We were so excited to meet these two. They are getting married later this fall at Olde Dobbin Station - venue that we are super pumped about shooting at!

Aren't they cute?

These are the images from their shoot that we shot on our digital cameras, but the exciting news is, during this session Luke shot about half the time with nothing but film. We won't get those scans back until about 3 weeks, but we can't wait to see them! We really have the best of both worlds because when we both shoot, we get the immediate gratification of our digital camera, but also the high end film images that Luke shoots with too, which lets us relive each shoot all over again 3 weeks later!

Lydia and Brandon's Wedding :: Austin Wedding Photographer

Sep 14, 2012 / Weddings

We had an amazing time in Austin with Lydia and Brandon!

Lydia and Brandon's downtown Austin wedding was a Texan's dream! The bride and groom met while in college at Baylor University, and both are Texas natives. They chose to travel to Austin to be married and selected a historic downtown gem, Central Christian Church, for the ceremony. The church's fourth century-inspired Italian architecture and handsome ironwork served as a lovely backdrop for their touching marriage ceremony.

Lydia is such a strikingly beautiful person! She is fun to be around and oh-so-kind. She greeted us both with excited hugs as we carried our stuff into the church. That's the kind of people Lydia and Brandon are: even though we only met through becoming their wedding photographer, they have always treated us like friends.

This picture makes me get a lump in my throat! Lydia and her mother have such a special relationship. I realized this when we shot Lydia's bridals a few months ago and her mother came along. How lucky they are to have each other!

This giant gavel happened to be sitting around at the church - and it is so fitting for Lydia, who actually graduated at the top of her class from Baylor Law!

Lydia has a timeless and classic style. She wore an elegant lace gown with a cutout back, and her blonde hair was pinned into a stylish twist. An antique hairpin held her birdcage veil.

Speaking of families, Brandon also comes from a great one. In one of my favorite pictures of the day, Brandon's sister peeks in on her brother getting pinned with his boutonniere.

These yellow billy ball flowers are all the rage! I love how they compliment the yellow and white roses in the bouquet.

What a beautiful church they chose!

Lydia and Brandon each wrote letter to one another and exchanged gifts before they were married. I love their expressions!

A couple of last minute giggles between mother and daughter before getting ready to head down the aisle.

One of my favorite moments of any wedding we've shot! Lydia and Brandon each prayed for each other and aloud to each other, quietly.

Both sets of parents also wrote special letters to be read aloud to the bride and groom. The letters were full of words that made us all laugh and cry happy tears.

What a great looking couple!

Texas, our Texas! If this doesn't make you feel proud to be a Texan, nothing will!

This antique cake topper was from many many years ago and belonged to Brandon's grandparents.

After the special dances and toasts, the dance floor was open - and this group knew how to cut a rug.

Any Baylor Bears in the house? There were plenty here!

Lydia and Brandon, you had a beautiful day and we are so glad that you brought us to Austin to photograph it. We have loved every minute of spending time with you guys and we can't wait to see all of the adventures that life takes you on!
