We finally got around to taking some pictures of our own home.
What better place to start than a tour of our office! We redid our office this year a little bit. We have had the same desks for about a year, but we repainted the walls from a dark navy blue to a light minty green that matches our branding more. We feel so happy any time we step into our office now! The wall color we chose is Benjamin Moore
Palladian Blue.
We used to have our walls filled with canvases, but when we repainted we wanted something a little different. Luke's always wanted a chalkboard, so he got one that he can write on. It usually says the name of whoever we're having come to our house that day, not "Luke and Cat's Office" as below. Luke just wrote that before he took the picture. Sometimes it just says Wilma and Hudson, of course. One day I walked in and it said "NOT Welcome Zombies" but we might have just spent the past 2 days watching Season 1 and Season 2 of The Walking Dead. And if you aren't watching that you should. :)
Instead of the canvases that used to hang on this wall, we now have framed and matted pictures from some of the weddings that we've shot that have been featured on wedding blogs. Our talented calligrapher friend
Jennifer Taylor from Sugarland hand calligraphied the couple's names and where they were published on the mat of the frame. We picked up these simple white frames with mats from Hobby Lobby. The pictures inside are 5x7's. We have some new ones we need to put up but we can't figure out the best place in our office to put those. Open for ideas! :)
So that's Abby and Shelby's desk, and that's the door to our storage closet. Somehow we started putting the notes/cards we got from our clients on that door and never stopped. If I'm having a bad day, I can just stand at that door and read a few words from some very special people we know and feel better.
Here you can sorta see a little peek into our hallway which we also repainted this year to a bright purple shade. But that's another blog post :)
This bookcase
from Ikea is the main workhorse of our office working system. It has so many great storage places and we love it. The canvas above is a 30 x 40 canvas of us that our amazing photographer friend and mentor
Millie Holloman took of us in 2011 in North Carolina. Our whole home is filled with pictures from our shoot with Millie and she is our photographer for life.
These vintage cameras sit atop our bookcase. A few we have picked up ourselves, but the majority of them have been treasures found by my mother-in-law. Luke's mom is a professional treasure hunter (antiquer) and keeps an eye out for cameras for us. Anytime she sees one she gets it for us. We are so blessed by her love!
Our favorite in the camera collection - an old movie camera. If you hold down the button right under the words "Brownie" it actually still makes a click click click movie noise.
Our lamp that we found on the sale aisle at Target made us so happy! We had been on the search for the perfect lamp for a while and this was it. The silver bulldog was a gift from one of my best friends.
We live in an old house - all the doorknobs are different. This is the one for our office.
So that's where we work! :)
