Our New Friends

We have been working on this little project for a few weeks now.

Today we finally got the last of the air plants for our "living art" piece in our bedroom! I feel so fancy saying that we have living art! I guess that it is time to start raising my pinky when I drink coffee.

We couldn't be more happy with how this turned out. We combined a few ideas that we have seen in our decorating adventures and made something that we are in love with. After we got all the plants placed, we just looked and stared, and contemplated the meaning of life. After all, isn't that what you are supposed to do when you look at art?

The last of the plants arrived today and we were so happy to see that some have "pups" or little starts of new plants attached to them, and also two are in bloom. It isn't a stunning flower (although some of ours should be vibrant red and pinky) but it looks cool nonetheless. Also, in my air plant knowledge search, I learned that they only bloom once in their life and after they bloom they start to produce pups and then die. But this can be an many year process!

We do have a few more air plants coming to make a, what we think, cool centerpiece for our dining room table. These things are very affordable and supah-easy to take care of! Weekly waterings are all they need, plus light and air.
