I posted a picture a few days ago of the first scan we saw from our first roll of film and we were blown away!

Just like when we got our first Digital Rebel and wanted to learn how to shoot with it, we used the scenery around us. Since we live on Cat's grandparents cattle ranch, you guessed it, cows are the subjects of the majority of our images:) #moo!

I knew I would, but I love my Canon 1V film camera. We have been taking it with us to weddings to get a few images in addition to all the others we have, and I can't wait for those to start coming back from the lab! I do love the instant gratification from our digital images, but something about having to wait a few weeks to see the film scans makes it much more fun to me. It's like Christmas morning!

When we get our next scans in I will put them up for you to look at and me to marvel over! I still can't believe that I am shooting on film. It seemed like such a mysterious creature for so long, now I am doing it!

The day finally came! I got an email just seconds ago with the link to my film scans and we dropped everything and patiently waited for the scans to download.

To say that it was agony waiting for the scans to download would be an understatement. We watched as each megabyte downloaded and got more and more impatient.

As the files were getting downloaded I was getting more and more nervous about what the final images were going to look like. What if my dreams of totally blown out images and black blobs came true! What if the people at the film lab got a good chuckle out of my first two rolls of film!

Finally the time came to open up the folder and see what the images looked like. This was the first one that we saw.

That's right, I started shooting with film the same way we started with digital. I walked out in a pasture and started to take pictures of everything around me, mainly cows. I am sure the people at the film lab thought "What the!" when it was images of cows, tractors, and trees.

After looking through the scans, I am SO SO SO happy with how they turned out. I know now what I need to change and what worked. I think that I will be a little less hesitant to take a picture because I know they will turn out how I envisioned in my head.

We are getting ready to head out the door to Austin for a wedding this weekend and a few extra days of piddling around the town, but when we get back I will be sure to share more :)
