Hi there! We're Luke and Cat, and we're so happy you're here. We hope you'll stay a while! We’re a husband and wife wedding photographer team based in Houston, Texas. Ranchers-turned-photographers, our world looks like this: a Craftsman-style farmhouse; our newborn, Knox, in our arms; coffee in the kitchen; Edison lights on the back porch; and a pair of English bulldogs at the foot of our bed. Confession Time.

Jun 19, 2012 / Our Life
I have a confession to make. I download sappy songs on Monday mornings.

And why, you might ask?

It's from all of these amazingly sweet songs I keep hearing at weddings we're photographing.

Way back when we photographed our first wedding, the groom and the mother of the groom danced to Goodnight My Angel by Billy Joel. Of course, I got teary-eyed, but I thought it was just a one-time deal. Now I know that is not the truth. I get teary eyed several times throughout each wedding we photograph, but that's not the point.

The point is, my iTunes music is extra sappy and I love it. :)

Just recently I downloaded these two gems... What A Difference You've Made in My Life by Ronnie Milsap (this past weekend's mother-son dance) and Thanks Again by Ricky Skaggs (played during the parent dance at Lauren and Braden's wedding).

Anyway, if you're a sappy song lover, too, or if you're thinking about some good tunes to play at your own wedding... I suggest download those oldies but goodies.

Have a fabulous Tuesday!

I see the moon and the moon sees me.

Jun 8, 2012 / Our Life

Last Friday night, Cat and I were getting home at about three in the morning from our local high schools project graduation. They asked us to bring our photo booth and we were there from 10 p.m. to 3 a.m.

While we were there, we didn't really notice that it was the wee hours of the morning, because we were busy at the photo booth and recently graduated seniors were all running around. It kept us on our toes and we didn't have a chance to think that we were up WAY past our bedtime :)

After we had more fun than we could handle, we loaded up our car and made the short five minute drive home. When we pulled in to our driveway, we noticed that there was a blanket of fog laying close to the ground and the moon was bright and illuminated the big Pecan trees in the pasture beside our home. It made me wonder what other beautiful sights I could see at three in the morning.

Happy Friday!

Fight or Flight!

Jun 7, 2012 / Our Life

A few days ago, Cat and I were out shooting, and I was trying to show someone where to stand. I leaned against this big sweeping tree branch and that is when Haley said "There is a snake!"

Lets back up the bus a little bit. I (Luke) am horrified of all things snake! I mean I scream like a little sissy when I see one of TV and get goosebumps. Hailing from Indiana, we don't have to worry about snakes too much, since the kind up there don't pose a threat to your life. However, down here along the Texas Gulf Coast, we have things like Coral Snakes that will mess you up!

So, when I heard Haley say "Sna..." I knew I was about to die. I also came to the conclusion that my fight or flight mechanism is faulty. If I had to guess, I would have envisioned me high-steppin' out of there like a Tennessee Walking Horse screaming the whole way, while a certain liquid ran down my leg!

Instead, my upper body lurched forward, while I can only guess that my legs were frozen with fear. They did not move. So I looked like one of those inflatable dancing "men" that you find on a car sales lot when they are having a sale. You know the type. My top half was flailing and my bottom half was stationary.

Also, for reasons unbeknownst to me, I said "No there isn't" in the middle of my dance. I guess that I thought our client would lie to me about the proximity of a snake. Some sick form of fun.

In the middle of my elaborate dance routine, that could have dwarfed Black Swan, I heard the word "skin!"

Haley had said "There is a snake skin!"

That is what was two feet from my skull. The left over remnants from a now bigger snake, that I could only assume was in the branches over my head.

We quickly moved locations and I lived to see another day. Barely!
In other news, our home renovations are almost complete (three weeks later) and we will be posting about that soon!
