Hi there! We're Luke and Cat, and we're so happy you're here. We hope you'll stay a while! We’re a husband and wife wedding photographer team based in Houston, Texas. Ranchers-turned-photographers, our world looks like this: a Craftsman-style farmhouse; our newborn, Knox, in our arms; coffee in the kitchen; Edison lights on the back porch; and a pair of English bulldogs at the foot of our bed. Chicken Coop Envy

Apr 10, 2013 / Our Life
For quite a while now, we have been wanting to have chickens in our little pasture right by our house. We love the idea of farm fresh eggs. And I love the idea of chickens cluck clucking around our place.

But we hate the idea of the inevitable 'sidekick' that comes around wherever chickens are at... chicken snakes! We're terrified of snakes. I mean, who isn't? But I think our fear is at a whole different level than most people. Both of us turn into shrieking, hysterical, garden tool slinging, machete swinging, shotgun firing idiots anytime we see a snake.

Another idea that has kept me from getting chickens is the difficultly that I thought we would have getting a nice chicken coop built. I wouldn't even know where to start. I wanted something cute... something that would match our house and add to our little place, not detract. All I could picture was a chicken coop that looked trashy and temporary.

Well... that all changed the other day when I was aimlessly scrolling on Facebook (faux-working, of course) and saw a sponsored post for something called Agrarian. Upon a little further investigating, I learned that Agrarian is a new line from Williams-Sonoma with all kinda of great stuff for outdoorsy people - from chicken coops, to composting, growing your own foods, and raising your own honey.

The Alexandria chicken coop was the initial post I saw on Facebook. Is this not *the* cutest chicken coop you've ever seen?

There's lots of other great stuff on the website too. I was a big fan of this vintage bathtub plant stand.

Even though I don't have chickens yet, I really want this basket, and yes I do want to put all of my eggs in one basket. THIS one.

While you're looking around the site, be sure to notice the beekeeper suit that goes with the honey stuff. I may or may not have actually asked Luke if we could get it and make our own honey. But neither of us wanted to be the beekeeper. :)

Who dreams of this?

Apr 2, 2013 / Our Life

It seems that when I close my eyes, I get visions like this in my head! All in hopes to try and get five in-a-row for a multicolored ball that destroys the surrounding like-colored candies!

Raise your hand if you are a Candy Crushaholic too! Currently level 105 has me beat down. I can't get past it and I am going on my fifth day of trying. However, I know that I will emerge victorious one day!

If you haven't learned about Candy Crush yet, you are missing out. #forreal! We have set times to play or our entire day would be devoted to candy crushing mayhem. I wonder what the next game we all get hooked on is?

Grateful

Mar 21, 2013 / Weddings, Our Life
A few weeks ago we were at Briscoe Manor shooting Megan and James' wedding. As the day went on, I kept hearing Megan mention to Luke (or me, too, sometimes) that before the day was over she had something to give us.

"Something to give us?"

You mean US? Like as in Luke and Cat?

I didn't linger too long on the thought as something else came to mind.

Go get a picture of the cake.

or...

Are those personalized M&Ms with their NAMES on them?

A few hours later the reception was almost over and Luke said, "Hey did you see what Megan got us?"

Then he pulled out this...

Megan had seen me pin this onto my Pinterest a few months ago and ordered it... as a gift... for US.

At that moment, I was completely overcome with this feeling. I am grateful.

I am so grateful for the people we get to meet, who invite us to share the most exciting day of their lives, and welcome us with open arms into their inner circles and private moments. We are blessed to get to be the only person in the room with a father and daughter in the moments before they walk down the aisle. We are blessed to get to be there the first few seconds of a couple's marriage right after they say "I Do." We are blessed to catch a glimpse of the bride's mother wiping a tear as the couple makes their getaway.

But mostly we are blessed by the couples we get to work with.

And now every day, I will wake up and see this sign sitting on my dresser, which happens to have one of my favorite bible verses on it, and think about how lucky we are. :)

Thank you, Megan, for making US feel so special!
