Hi there! We're Luke and Cat, and we're so happy you're here. We hope you'll stay a while! We’re a husband and wife wedding photographer team based in Houston, Texas. Ranchers-turned-photographers, our world looks like this: a Craftsman-style farmhouse; our newborn, Knox, in our arms; coffee in the kitchen; Edison lights on the back porch; and a pair of English bulldogs at the foot of our bed. Celebrate Everything!

Sep 4, 2012 / Our Life

I have been wanting to increase my Illustrator skill set for some time.

I love to doodle and draw. If I am being totally honest, I can't have a piece of paper beside me if I am trying to get work done, because I will get sidetracked and write the same word a million different ways. I always wished that I knew how to take what I drew on a piece of paper and "play" with it in Illustrator.

The long weekend provided me a little time to piddle around (isn't that how you learn?) and with the help of a close friend and Illustrator genius (thanks Laci!) I think that I know a little more about Illustrator then I did when I started. It actually was much easier than I expected!

I really like to make the "words" and sayings but I attempted to draw a flower too. I was pretty impressed with my first attempt!

Song Pop Mania

Aug 30, 2012 / Our Life

Raise your hand if you have caught the Song Pop craze!

Cat has gone muy loco with her new favorite iPhone app! She is the queen of song lyrics, who sings it, and what the name of the song is, so this app was invented just for her.

I (Luke) constantly make up lyrics, have no clue who the artist signing is, and generally don't actually listen to the words. I just like the songs that I like, regardless of the meaning. I may have even told Cat at one point that Beyonce's Irreplaceable made me think of her. Then she informed me that the song was actually about someone telling someone to break up and get out, I just heard the irreplaceable part :)

Needless to say, I do not participate in Song Pop, unless it is the Animated Movies category, which I am lethal at! Then I just grab Cat's phone and school whoever is my opponent. They don't even see it coming.

Back to Cat's reign of terror on her helpless opponents. I have heard her yelling certain things from the other room while she is playing like "BOOM!" or "What do you have to say now LaciCae1749!" I must say that I am a little surprised of Cat's song knowledge across vast genres of music, including "modern rap" and "disco!"

She keeps wanting me to play against her. This would be similar to Hopper's first attack in A Bug's Life. Total devastation! I tell her that she just wants to play me because I am an easy target, to which she replies with "I know!"

Do any of you play games against your significant other? Do they end in tears and flipped Monopoly boards? Do you wager things like complete laundry tasks for a week? Or is this just us?

I Want To Learn Here!

Aug 29, 2012 / Our Life

One of our past brides, Katie, sent us some pictures of her classroom. Have you ever seen anything like this!

Maybe it was because I had to walk uphill to school, both ways. Or maybe it was because my teachers thumped our hands with rulers if we misbehaved. Or maybe it was that I didn't pay much attention and was more concerned with drawing dragons or making folder forts, but I do not remember any of my teachers going all out like this for their classroom!

The theme of Katie's classroom in Hollis' Heros (yay, for the new last name Katie!) so everywhere you look there is some superhero element!

I thought that this sign was wonderful and so thoughtful!

Yes, I am going to print my name out (LUKE!) and hang it on the wall! Then I will be a Hollis' Hero too!

Katie even dressed up with a cape to complete the superhero theme!

Katie - Cat and I wish we could send our future kids to your classroom to learn and have fun doing so! Best of luck these first few weeks of school :)
